Philippines Independence Day | Araw ng Kalayaan “Day of Freedom” June 12, 2015′
Today we observe the “Day of Freedom” in the Philippines
Happy Friday!
Today, the Philippines is in observation of their freedom from Spanish rule which lasted from 1521 to June 12th, 1898. The Filipino people have a remarkable story of perseverance, struggle, and occupation that many countries (including ours here in the USA) have all experienced.
The story of the Philippines is a triumphant one, as they’ve had many challenges over the centuries including occupation from Japan during Word War 2 the Filipinos along with the international community call “The War of Our Fathers”.
During my recent trip in February of this year I was able to see the exhibit at the Mall of Asia (MOA) titled “The War Of Our Father: A Tribute to the Filipino Freedom Fighter”. It was at this display where I learned that the lasting alliance between USA, Australia and the Philippines was formed to fight back the Japanese.
I have seen how such a society of people have been able to overcome such obstacles to become one of the fastest emerging economies in the world. I’m very honored to work with my friends in the Philippines, and truly blessed to have such a great team.
Thank you all, and have a great weekend!
